I am looking for advice on how to represent futuristic language evolution in fic. Post on my journal: vague setting spoilers for the computer game "Crying Suns."

What do y'all think is most plausible, given the canon characterization of Gabriel Agreste, to be his religious beliefs? Because I can present myself equally compelling arguments for:

1) Catholic (and consequently he doesn't think kwamis are gods), and he's mostly non-practicing
2) atheist (and of course he doesn't think kwamis are gods), and to the extent he follows anything, he follows the secular Christian cultural calendar
3) Kwami-ist (because he knows kwamis are gods), but nobody knows he's outside the the atheist/agnostic range, and to the extent he follows anything, he follows the secular Christian cultural calendar

...and this is significant background detail for the 3/4 mark in my NaNovel.

(I don't think we have enough info to speculate on Émilie's religious beliefs, which I am taking as license to do as I please, and with Adrien's I am pretty sure I'm running counter to canon. But we might be able to speculate on Gabriel's, and that will matter.)

A friend of mine recommended I post here just in case anyone knew of someone who could help. I hope that's OK. :)

I'm trying to write what will be a very very long fic (probably over 100k - I've never written anything longer than 25k before!) for Rookie Blue and I'm really struggling with characterization and just having someone to read over what I've come up with and tell me if it's feeling "off" or OOC, and who I could discuss the outline with and talk about what's missing or what I need to include, etc. It's an AU for the whole show which makes it trickier. McSwarek, if that matters. I've posted multiple places online but the fandom seems to have pretty much died, and I only just now got into it, so I'm struggling to even find anyone I can discuss a character with, much less my fic. (I have so *many* AU ideas for this show, this is just the one that I suddenly had most of an outline in my head for one weekend, and had to jot down line after line of it.)

I've got the very first bit of it (unedited) on my Dreamwidth and it's up to 11k now and I've barely gotten started on writing what I have outlined...

I'm currently working on a Robbie/Jackie shipper essay for Taggart fandom (info) and need a little more help with the editing, I already have one person helping with it but they're really busy just now and I'm also doing a pen edit when I can but being dyslexic means that I'm missing some things. I'm mostly looking for help with SPaG, repetition, consistency.

Thanks

Hi all,

This one is a bit of a weird request, I suspect. I'm looking for at least two beta-readers for a fic I've written for a piece of university assessment (I'm studying a Literary & Cultural Studies/Creative Writing double major... this is the second assignment so far where I've been allowed to submit fanfic as assessable content. I love my degree). I need one beta-reader who is part of the relevant fandom (Final Fantasy VII - original game and Crisis Core, with references to the remake trailer), and at least one other beta-reader who isn't part of the Final Fantasy VII fandom.

This is what I'd be needing from each reader:

Non-fandom - Does the story make even the slightest bit of sense to you? Would you be interested in finding out more? Does it stand alone as a piece of fiction, or do you think you'd need to know the canon in order to make sense of it?

Fandom - Can you clearly recognise the incident(s) I'm referring to, and what happened in them? Can you clearly place the fic in the various canon time-lines, and does it make sense in context?

Both - general grammar and spelling niggles (context: I write Commonwealth English, being based in Australia), overall plotting and polishing, what worked for you and why, what didn't work for you and why, overall impressions, etc.

The fic itself is 1500 words long, and I can supply it to potential readers in .doc, .docx, .odt, .pdf, .rtf, .txt and probably any other format Libre Office or Microsoft Word can understand.

There's a definite deadline on this request - the assessment itself is due by 11 MAY, so I'd like to have any comments and critique back by 01 MAY in order to be able to incorporate any necessary changes. If you're interested, please drop a comment with a means of getting into direct contact with you (so we can sort out appropriate format issues and so on), or drop me a private message via my DW account.
