fictional_fansWe've probably all heard about tops and bottoms, but why not expand this into the rest of the quark family so we have six options to play with? A character can be not only top or bottom, but also up, down, strange, or charm. (Some sources even call top and bottom truth and beauty, respectively!)
This also gives us the opportunity to describe OTPs as mesons and OT3s as baryons. (OT4s and OT5s are also attested in the form of tetraquarks and pentaquarks.) So, what sort of meson is your OTP? Or perhaps you have an OT3 that is in need of a baryonic description? Or perhaps your polyship needs to be matched to the exotic hadron that best describes it? For example, if you have an OTP with a down member and an antistrange member, that would be a kaon. And an OT3 with a charm, a strange, and a bottom would be a charmed bottom omega baryon. An OT4 of charm, anticharm, down, and antiup would be a Z(4430) tetraquark.

Since the D meson is the lightest meson which contains a charm quark, it must change that charm quark to some other quark in order to decay. Transmutations of quarks occurs by the weak interaction, which changes the charm quark to a strange quark with a W particle. For the OT4, Elayne is beauty, Min is truth, Rand is...probably down, being the chosen one gets him down. And Aviendha is up, I guess?
The pentagon: Siuan/Moiraine were top/bottom, for sure. Morgase is beauty (it's funnier if we can use both names in the same description, so I'm going with it); Thom is charm (the court bard), and Gareth is probably down (he's a gruff old general). And after everything else shakes out we get top/down with Siuan/Gareth, bottom/charm with Moiraine/Thom, and Morgase winds up with Tallanvor, who's maybe truth? (He's just a simple plainspoken city man who loves his queen).

"Charmed double bottom Omega" sounds like something from an Omegaverse story that goes extra hard on the tropes.

Date: 2020-05-09 05:54 am (UTC)Then there's one OTP - Archer/Lancer from Fate/Stay. With his personality, how could Archer be anything but absolute antiup and Lancer is pretty much pure charm. So they are a D meson.
