Okay, if you were loading your phone up with offline copies of longfic (20,000-300,000 words) from A03 to keep as your stash of emergency re-reads, what would you pick? Any fandom, pairing, age, no shame or standards except 'it's a good thing to have on hand when you really need a longfic'.

I am trying to come up with a list, but it's all coming stuff I've re-read too often lately, so I need some new blood or old blood I've forgotten.

(I have Murderbot, Barrayar, T. Kingfisher and Young Wizards as my emergency profic longreads on there, but I want some fanfic to pad it out.)

Thanks! For Guardian in specific, the first ten chapters of the original webnovel have been translated here. (The links to the next chapter are quite low down, beneath the main text box.) I'm not aware of there currently being any fics in English for either version of it (apparently the ending was changed for the adaptation to TV), but I've seen some fandom buzz from the same people who're into Nirvana in Fire.

There are fics in English as of two weeks ago when rageprufrock started writing and dragged some friends in! (Which also I think correlates to the legal subbed version going up on youtube.)

Good to know the ending was changed, though - I get the impression from the English fandom that literally everybody hated the TV ending. Maybe I'll save the webnovel for if I finish the series and need a cleanser.

The author herself has also written (promised to write?) an extra alternative ending for the TV canon, so yes, apparently everyone hated the ending. I think someone's promised to translate?
